Marriage of the Di Daughter
Chapter 159 Part 2: Green Hat
She actually wanted to ask Ji Heng, with his status, he didn’t need to personally cook, but how did he have good cooking skills. However, Ji Heng didn’t like people talking about his cooking skills, so Jiang Li gave up this intention.
Besides, although she was curious, curiosity did not necessarily require an answer.
This birthday banquet was a great success. Jiang Li became more familiar with these people compared to the first time she came to the mansion. They didn’t talk about anything important at the birthday banquet, just some small talk. Perhaps because Jiang Li gave him a precious horse, old general Ji was obviously much closer to Jiang Li. He also exchanged some horse-appraising techniques with Jiang Li, and both of them gained a lot.
Jiang Li still didn’t drink any alcohol at this birthday banquet.
After the incident at the Shen family, Jiang Li stopped drinking at all banquets. However, everyone was very considerate of her poor drinking habits and did not persuade her to drink. They even specially gave her fruit juice without alcohol. By the time the banquet was over, old general Ji and everyone else were already drunk. Situ Jiuyue, Hai Tang and Jiang Li, the three females, were not drunk. The only other person left who was still sober was Ji Heng.
The servants helped the drunk men into the house, and the rest of the people walked out of the hall. Jiang Li saw Situ Jiuyue standing in front of the yard and stepped forward to call out, “Miss Jiuyue.”
Situ Jiuyue said, “The medicine you requested has been prepared. I gave it to Ji Heng, you can ask him for it. But you need to remember that this medicine can only be used for three months. After three months, all signs of pregnancy will disappear, and when the pulse is taken, the physician will find that the previous pulse was false.”
“Three months is already sufficient enough,” Jiang Li bowed deeply to Situ Jiuyue, “This time it’s all thanks to Miss Jiuyue.”

“No need to thank me.” After she said this, she went into the house without looking back, perhaps to make some new medicine. Hai Tang was probably helping Situ Jiuyue, Jiang Li watched her bow to her and then hurried into the room that Situ Jiuyue had entered. Jiang Li smiled as she watched. Hai Tang seemed to have found something to do temporarily, and hermood had improved somewhat.
In the end, Jiang Li didn’t wish for Hai Tang’s mind to be twisted in hatred. She would avenge the Xue family herself. Hatred would change a person, people who carried hatred would not be happy. She was enough, there was no need to add others.
“What are you smiling at?” Just as Jiang Li was lost in thought, Ji Heng’s voice suddenly came from behind her. Jiang Li looked back and saw that he was standing side by side with her at the gate of the yard. He was not looking at her, but at the sky, not knowing what he was looking at.
“There are no bad things. I feel good, so I smile.” Jiang Li said.
“Then perhaps you’ll continue to be smiling from now on.”
“What?” Jiang Li was taken aback.
Ji Heng said, “Follow me.” He walked out of the yard.
Jiang Li hurried to catch up.
At this moment, Kong Liu and his party had passed out drunk in the Duke’s Mansion, while Situ Jiuyue went to refine medicine. Apart from the servants, there were only Ji Heng and Jiang Li. Jiang Li saw the direction he was walking, which was clearly towards the study, and immediately knew that Ji Heng probably had something to say to her.
Coincidentally, she also had something to say to Ji Heng.
The two walked neither fast nor slow, and their footprints could be clearly seen in the snow. Ji Heng’s was deeper, in the shape of a boot, while Jiang Li’s was lighter, in the shape of an embroidered shoe. One big and one small, looking very harmonious.
Soon, the two of them arrived in front of the study. The servant opened the door and Jiang Li and Ji Heng entered.
The study room was still the same as Jiang Li was familiar with, black and white, which was very inconsistent with Ji Heng’s appearance, yet it also seemed to match. His heart was just like this, cutting through decisively, simply and in order; black and white was the best.
Ji Heng walked to the table, poured a cup of tea for Jiang Li, and poured another cup for herself. Jiang Li found that no matter what time she went to the Duke’s Mansion, the tea in the teapot in Ji Heng’s study was always warm.
This might explain his character, there was preparation for everything.
Jiang Li sat down in front of his desk.
“Two pieces of news,” Ji Heng said, “one good news and one bad news, which one do you want to hear?”
For a moment, Jiang Li was in a trance.
In the past, when Xue Zhao was playing with her, he also liked to say this “Two pieces of news, one good news and one bad news. Which one do you want to hear?”
The young man sitting in front of him was a completely different person from Xue Zhao, and Xue Zhao was already dead.
She calmed herself down. In the past, she always answered with “Let’s hear the good news first”, but today, she replied to Ji Heng, “Bad news.”
Ji Heng raised the corner of his mouth and smiled playfully, “It seems that you like to suffer first and then enjoy the sweetness.”
“I guess so.” Jiang Li smiled bitterly. But how was she someone who suffered first and then enjoyed happiness? In her previous life as Xue Fang Fei, her life was really sweet first and then bitter. In the first half of her life, she only felt that life was full of flowers and wonderful. Even if there was dissatisfaction and pain, it was not as much as the joy. So God is fair. She enjoyed happiness first, but suffered later. Everything that happened later proved this sentence.
But the suffering when she was Xue Fang Fei who was killed by Shen Yurong, she didn’t know when it would begin to be “sweet”.
“Jiang Youyao has been found.” Ji Heng said.
Jiang Li was stunned and blurted out, “Where is she? Is she still in Yanjing?”
“Still in Yanjing.” Ji Heng said meaningfully: “But the place where she is staying is a place you would never have thought of.”
Jiang Li saw there was something in his words, so she quietly waited for Ji Heng’s next answer.
“She is at the Right Prime Minister’s residence.”
“The Li family?” Jiang Li was surprised. She had thought many times about where Jiang Youyao might be, but she never expected that she would be at the Li residence. The Li family and the Jiang family had always been at odds. Even if Jiang Youyao was desperate, she would not go to the Right Prime Minister’s residence. Besides, Li Zhong Nan, that old fox, would not make use of Jiang Youyao for anything. For the Li family, Jiang Youyao was of no use, and might even stir up humiliation, she was more like an inconvenience.
Work is a bit annoying at the moment, things come out one after another. I don’t enjoy dealing with people much, especially government officials for work related permits and stuff. Recently, with what’s going on at work, translation has strangely become therapeutic. Also, your generous support and comments always bring positive energy, thank you all dear readers!!! Let’s see if we can have another weekend frenzy at the end of the month!!
Thank you so much MH-R!!

I hope work becomes less annoying and that the officials become more consderate.
Also, why is it bad news that Youyao is alive? Made me chuckle. Is it because she is with her mother’s family?

Take a deep breath and one step at a time, I say to myself. You are great! Thank you so much for this work! It is interesting how Jiang Li chooses the bitter before the sweet now, seeing it in relation to her past life of enjoying the sweet first. There is an emotional shift as well as an elemental one by transposing the memory of her loved brother with that of Ji Heng in relation to the news. She says life is fair in that way to have both.
