“A long time ago, my cat Kuro ran away from home. Fortunately, he came running on his own after a while. But sometimes, I get this feeling that it wasn’t really Kuro who came back that day, but a completely strange cat.”

The comic follows the story of Coco, a little girl who lives in a big mansion alone with her cat Kuro. In her peaceful life, small mysterious occurrences keep happening without her noticing, always related to her cat. Well, if that can be called a cat.

In a world conquered by monsters, the villagers live amidst fear and superstition, and only the little girl living in the big mansion seems to be oblivious to it all. Several secrets and mysteries envelop Coco’s past, her mansion’s history, Kuro’s identity and, above all, the monsters’ existence. As Coco lives her life naively while being protected by Kuro, some of these mysteries and secrets start to see light.

This is a short story that can be read in just one afternoon. It starts with a cute and funny vibe with the daily interactions of Coco and Kuro, but it turns darker and more eerie as the monsters start appearing and the abnormal circumstances of Coco become more apparent.

Although it is unsettling at times, it is a very enjoyable read and moreover, the art is really great! I really love this author’s style^^ I had already read this story a few years ago when it was not yet complete and I don’t regret in the least having found it again, I’m actually considering buying the physical copies in the future when my Japanese level is a bit more advanced^^
