The Random Passerby I Married Is The Richest Man!

Chapter 18 Part 2: Yes, I Do

After a short exchange of greetings, Jiang Muyang gave some excuse and went quietly to a corner.

Jiang Muyu followed him, took his hand, and asked: “Brother, what’s wrong?”

Jiang Muyang couldn’t help turning to take a glimpse of Bai Zhen Zhen then said: “Nothing, I just didn’t expect that when we met again, there would already be another man beside her…”

Please, read this at BloomingTranslation blog. We spend a lot of time and effort to bring you the best quality translations we can provide, so please show us respect by reading from our site instead of aggregators that steal our work.

A trace of jealousy flashed through Jiang Muyu’s eyes.

“I don’t think that Miss Bai is anything good, her looks are also just like that.” Jiang Muyu said, “And her boyfriend, he’s also not a proper man, and what about being the CEO and the chairman of a listed company,  that’s slapping one’s face to make it look imposing from swelling1.”

And then still added another sentence: “Birds of a feather flock together2, they indeed are a perfect match.”

“Muyu, you don’t know her.” Jiang Muyang paused, and the corner of his mouth rose in a gentle arc, “she’s the best girl I have ever met.”

Jiang Muyu had to repeatedly control her expression. She forced a smile on her face, and strengthened her hold on her brother’s hand a bit.

“I don’t want to know her! Anyway ah, she doesn’t deserve my brother!” Jiang Muyu pretended to act spoiled and embraced her brother’s arm, “brother, the world is so big, there are so many lovely girls, don’t think about her anymore, ok?”

Jiang Muyang’s eyes were covered by a layer of distress.

“Yes ah, the world is so big…” With a sorrowful sigh, he looked once again towards that direction, but I have finally come back here, and seeing her for just a moment, it’s as if she is a completely different person3…”

Jiang Muyu’s face completely changed at that moment. She couldn’t come up with anything to say.

She looked at her brother’s expression and for a moment she felt stifled and despair.

“Maybe there will be a day I can forget her.” Jiang Muyang laughed with self-deprecation, and took his gaze back from Bai Zhen Zhen.

Seeing Jiang Muyu’s cold expression, he reached out and pinched her nose: “What’s with that blank look! Still talking about your brother when your age is not so small anymore, you should also try to look for a boyfriend!”

Jiang Muyu came back to her senses and showed a bright and innocent smile: “I don’t want to find a boyfriend, I will follow my brother all my life!”

“You ah you! It really is like mother says, one clingy child!”

With  Jiang Muyang again in a good mood, Jiang Muyu swayed her arms spoiledly, but when she looked down for a moment, she threw a fierce look towards Bai Zhen Zhen.

At the side, Bai Zhen Zhen didn’t notice in the slightest the hostility emanating from a certain direction. She was still leisurely listening to Huo Xiang talking big.

“Zhen Zhen, I promise you, if I ever become the richest man, you will become the richest madam4.” Huo Xiang said seriously.

Bai Zhen Zhen pretended to be moved: “Thank you for remembering me at that time.”

“Of course!” Huo Xiang gave her a resolute look, “as they say, don’t forget your friends when you become rich.”

Bai Zhen Zhen finally couldn’t endure it anymore. She squeezed out a smile uglier than crying: “Please, it’s broad daylight, stop daydreaming.”

Huo Xiang: “……”

As the two were talking, a pair of well-dressed5 beautiful girls approached them swaying their waists.

One of them suddenly stumbled by herself, and the wine glass she was holding fell to the side. The red wine inside just happened to splash on Bai Zhen Zhen’s dress.

“Oh, I’m so sorry!” The perpetrator cried out in alarm.

Bai Zhen Zhen subconsciously looked at the woman. Although the woman had said “sorry”, there was not a trace of surprise or guilt in her face, it was clearly intentional.

I think I should watch Journey To The West someday, it appears so often in references or idioms (e.g. the beaten back to one’s original form) and the like it would be interesting if I knew at least what they’re talking about lol

   ***

It was almost midnight. In a well-lit square, a girl and her friend were waiting for the friend’s father to pick them up. Sitting on a stone bench, the friend was chatting on her phone, while the girl was staring with tired eyes at the floor. As she looked down on the chewing gum-stained tiles, she noticed a small shiny stone. Paying more attention, it looked like some kind of metal, resembling a small piece of magnetita, with a shape full of angles. She thought it might have been a bead on a bracelet that fell down. Since it shone, reflecting the streetlamps’ light on top of the matt, dull floor, it continuously picked her attention.

As she fought to keep her eyes open, her sleepy gaze fixed on the shiny little stone, a beeping sound rang nearby, undetected by her and her friend. In fact, undetected by anyone sitting on the stone benches of the well-lit square.

Beeep beeep beeep

-Captain, emergency! Red level alert!
-Cadet, report the situation.
-Reporting to Captain, the system has detected: a human has discovered our spaceship’s presence.
-Confidence level?
– The human has been staring for more than two minutes. According to our intel, computed with the human’s gender and age, confidence level of 95%.
-Damn it! We were so close… Cadet, what’s the protocol for this situation?
-Yes, Captain! In this circumstances, the protocol for emergency situation advises to abort the mission and go back to the closest station, but the option to keep forward with the mission and remain on place is still possible, though unadvised. The power of decision remains with the highest-ranking official on charge of the mission; that is you, my Captain. How shall we proceed?
-Hmmm, to withdraw after having come so far…Let’s observe a bit more. Cadet, what’s the status?
-The human individual is in an apparent Sleepy State, but according to our intel, it could be faking it to make us relax our guard.
-Understood. Cadet, continue to observe the situation. Report immediately if there are any changes, otherwise, report normally after 5 minutes.
-Yes, Captain!

The girl lifted her sight. To her left, her friend was still chatting on the phone. She asker her if she minded that she was on her phone, to which the girl answered that it was not a problem. She lowered her gaze again as they waited for the car they didn’t know when would arrive. Her tired eyes drifted to a couple dozens centimeters to the left from the shiny stone. As her gaze remained fixed in that non-particularly-attractive spot, she started to notice the details on the floor. And she also started noticing the movement.

Dozens of tiny ants busied themselves from here to there, unaware that for many others it was not time to work at such late hours of the night. However, if one paid attention, one would notice that the tiny ants strangely changed their trajectory, not going to the right, as if keeping away from something. How odd.

-Captain, emergency!!!! Reporting to Captain, the human seems to have discovered the existence of our security perimeter. It is currently studying the movement of ants in detail, and it is expected that, with its level of intelligence, it will be able to draw accurate conclusions soon, if it hasn’t yet. How shall we proceed, my Captain?

-Damn it, is this really where our mission comes to an end? After so much time and effort, we were already about to achieve our goal… But, is it worth to endanger our whole species for the sake of this mission? Even so, it’s highly important, I feel very reluctant to withdraw. We could find some alternative… I got it, Cadet! I know it’s a desperate measure, but maybe we can…

Honk honk!

The honking of a car sounded in the rather quiet, well-lit square, at almost midnight. The girl woke up from her reverie, and together with her friend, they got into the car. Leaving behind the well-lit square, lots tiny ants, and the small shiny stone.

Midnight stroke.

something that came to my mind the other day as I was sitting in a stone bench in a well-lit square as I stared a shiny small stone and wrote down in the car that has finally picked us up x)
