Thinking of deer Fei Fei

Chapter 4

After a brief self-introduction in front of the camera, the program “Looking for a frog in the wilderness” began to record. The five famous guests and the five actors from the cast were divided into two groups by drawing lots.

Fei Chang drew a red bamboo stick; he immediately turned his head to look at his senior brother. He had also drawn a red bamboo stick. Fei Chang bounced a couple times.

His bouncing action was different from that of your average person. He didn’t bend his knees, instead, he flew up, at the same time flying towards Chen Yue Yang. In Chen Yue Yang’s eyes, it was as if there was a tower, followed by a thumping sound, that in two steps had reached him.

“I’m also in the red team!” The tower said happily.

The manager had greeted the crew in advance, asking them to have the two put together. This time, Chen Yue Yang had come to the show just to “carry” him. But Fei Chang lacked experience, thinking it had indeed been because of good luck.

Their group had a guy and a girl from the fixed cast, as well as a little fresh meat¹ from another company. The fresh meat was very polite, calling them ‘older brother’ or ‘older sister’, with a tone full of worship. He was very likeable, with a very sincere expression.

Fei Chang didn’t talk as much as him, he hadn’t learned how to “act in this business”, being just thrown into the show by the company.

Chen Yue Yang took the initiative to hand him a message asking whether he was nervous to be on a show for the first time. He answered he wasn’t nervous, that the one that should be nervous was the frog.

… why would the frog be nervous?

Fei Chang especially liked this show,《Looking for a frog in the wilderness》 was very thrilling.

The actor from the cast was a lone wolf hero who ate some wild plants and animals in front of the camera from time to time.

In order to achieve the desired effect in the show, that actor not only wanted to eat it himself, but also teased the actress from the cast to also eat it. The poor actress turned pale, and kept saying ‘won’t eat, won’t eat’. Fei Chang suddenly jumped from behind, saying he would eat it.

《Looking for a frog in the wilderness》was a show broadcasted at dinnertime, which made him have a conditioned reflex. He had obviously eaten a lot for breakfast, but when he saw the actor open his mouth, he became hungry.

Chen Yue Yang thought he was forcing himself, but then discovered that he was indeed not picky about food. He didn’t just eat, but also said his evaluation at the same time.

This is like a banana that has fallen from a high place and then been placed on a heater for three days.

This is like yogurt that has been spread on the windshield for a whole afternoon on a hot summer day.

The little fresh meat pointed at him and said: “Brother Yue Yang, your junior brother has eaten so many things.”

Chen Yue Yang answered dully: “En, he’s still a baby², still hasn’t passed through the chewing period.”

Later, the baby giraffe was tired of eating and began to follow well-behaved after his senior brother to explore the way. He hadn’t slept the night before, so now he was somewhat tired and spiritless.

It was already possible to tell the difference between long-established artists and trainees with this point. Chen Yue Yang was already used to record a show of this intensity after a short night, he could control his drowsiness with willpower. He was able to not sleep for 72 hours, but also to lie down and sleep during the end of the world.

When they set up a camp at noon to rest, Fei Chang felt aggrieved and bent his legs, his head resting on his knees, and began to doze off. Even if he embraced his legs like this, he still looked big. Chen Yue Yang wandered to his side and compared their heights, gaining back a little bit of self-esteem.

They continued in the afternoon. The two fellow brothers were tall and with long legs. Although Chen Yue Yang was 13 cm shorter than Fei Chang, his legs were thin and straight, standing together he didn’t lose out.

Obviously, this was a forest in a rugged terrain, but the two men walked like they were taking a stroll leisurely; crossing this small pit or that small hole, climb onto that small branch or that small tree stump.  Compared to the two, the other three people in the group had many difficulties. The actor was the strong type, with a short and robust build; the actress was of a delicate build, already gasping for breath; and although the little fresh meat was energetic and young, unfortunately, his 178 cm were not enough to keep up. It also was his first time participating in this kind of show in the countryside, and fell behind after walking for a while.

In order to complete the task, the five discussed and decided to form two groups. The long-legged would go explore the path, the short-legged… sigh, it’s not like they could provide any backup with their short legs. The cameraman following them would also go with the two.

After separating from their peers, it was just the two of them in the camera. They encountered an intersection: one path was a narrow and winding road, and the other path was also a narrow and winding road.

Chen Yue Yang handed Fei Chang a stone and asked him to throw it over his shoulder in any direction he wanted.

The idol asked, the younger brother fan immediately obeyed. The stone landed on the right side of the fork.

So the two went to the right. After walking a few steps, Fei Chang asked: “Why was it me the one who threw?”

Chen Yue Yang looked at him half leaning, his chin slightly raised, with a smirk in his eyes. He really knew at which angle he looked the best.

“This is called asking a deer to throw a stone.”

It was a pity that the deer’s luck wasn’t really good. When they had walked halfway, there was a fallen tree in the middle of the road. The tree was so big and thick that even four men wouldn’t be able to move it aside. The baby giraffe jumped over in a single jump. The older brother Tibetan antelope took a couple steps back, then dashed and also jumped over the tree.

However, the cameraman could not climb up.

So the enthusiastic Fei Chang jumped back again to help the man, holding the camera that weighted a few kilos and handing it to Chen Yue Yang. Then he held the cameraman’s waist with both hands and lifted him up, just like he was carrying a child, and at last, put him down at the other side of the big tree.

The cameraman from this show came from South Korea to join the team, and had a long trajectory, but no matter how rich his experience was, he had never come across this situation ah! He sighed while saying some unintelligible words.

Chen Yue Yang had learned some Korean, and even a bit of Japanese, Cantonese and so on. The company had initially arranged it like this so that it would be convenient to interact with his fans. Since he had a beautiful and distant face, this would make him seem more approachable.

Fei Chang asked his senior brother what the cameraman had said.

Chen Yue Yang: “He said that he is afraid of heights, two meters is too high.”

Fei Chang felt wronged: “I’m only 1.95 meters.”

Chen Yue Yang said: “Never mind, 1.95 meters is just right.”

……What was just right?
