Thinking of deer Fei Fei

Chapter 6

After determining the person that would climb down the cliff, the other tasks were easily assigned. Fei Chang, the fresh meat, and the cast actor were put in charge of pulling the rope, the cast actress would cheer them on1.

The cliff was about two stories high, and it looked extremely steep when looking down. Although it looked dangerous, there was almost no risk factor for an experienced climber. This place had been specifically picked by the program’s organizers for Chen Yue Yang, and had been tested who knows how many times to ensure that he would not be injured in the slightest.

Before Chen Yue Yang went down the cliff, Fei Chang held his hand and refused to let go. The cast actor teased: “You two junior and senior have a good relationship.”

Chen Yue Yang said: “Yes ah, especially good.”

Who could have guessed that today was just the second time they met each other?

The little fresh meat was a very perceptive person. He saw Chen Yue Yang act very calm; and when he looked at the show’s crew and staff, they didn’t look nervous at all, so he had already guessed the truth of the matter.

The little fresh meat’s company had paid a big price to get him into “Looking for a frog in the wilderness”. However, no need to mention whether it was exploring the forest or going down the cliff to pick the item, he even fell down into a swamp, ending in a sorry state. It could be guessed that his screen time in the program would certainly be very short.

He couldn’t wait to grab the camera lens ah!

The little fresh meat grabbed the rattans in his hand and joked: “Don’t you think, this scene resembles “The Boat Tracker’s Love”2?”

When Fei Chang, who was pulling the rattan rope face to face with him, heard him, he glanced at him coldly.

Just a moment ago, he undoubtedly was a completely inoffensive baby giraffe, however right now his whole body emitted a vicious aura, with his lips pursed tightly, and all the muscles on his face taut. His gaze was like a knife.

The little fresh meat recalled the “blood-soaked picture” circulating online, and in a flash he didn’t dare say anything anymore.

Chen Yue Yang was really good at climbing. He had climbed even higher cliffs without protection, no need to mention he still held the sturdy rattan rope in his hands.

There were many mini camera lenses from the top to the bottom of the cliff, and also one on Chen Yue Yang’s helmet.

He was a very smart person. He knew what the program’s crew wanted, what drew the audience in to watch, and which scenes would make the fans feel distressed.

Therefore, he stepped powerfully on the rock, which broke down into small stones that rolled down the cliff, rumbling. He took a quick glimpse, with an “hesitating, frightened” expression on his face, but his mind was thinking where to put his foot next.

The cast actress was lying on her stomach at the edge of the cliff, and cried out in alarm, very cooperatively. She turned pale and asked: “Yue Yang, Yue Yang, are you ok?”

Because of her shout, Fei Chang immediately became flustered.

Chen Yue Yang heard the youth’s cry from the top of the cliff, his anxious voice filled with panic.

Fei Chang didn’t understand the program’s routine, he really thought that his idol was met with danger, whishing he was the one to go down the cliff instead.

He was tall and strong, his eyes red with worry, and tears were pouring out. But no one dared to treat him as a soft, weak and delicate crybaby, for fear he would chew them alive when too excited.

The cast actor and fresh meat did their utmost trying to persuade him to stay calm, but no matter how much they said it was useless.

Until a voice shouted from the bottom of the precipice: “Fei Chang, shut up.”

In the camera lens, Fei Chang, who just a moment ago was crying nonstop, immediately flashed a smile.  He laughed very happily, yet a snot bubble went down his nose. The snot bubble popped into the air, extremely ugly but extremely funny.

The little fresh meat wailed in his heart: My God, ah, how can this big guy grab the limelight with his snot like this ah!

After that, the shooting progress became extremely fast after Chen Yue Yang intentionally sped up.

It took him over 20 minutes “swaying” to climb down the cliff, almost “losing his footing” halfway, which was extremely thrilling.  Then, after getting the golden toad toy, he swiftly climbed up, not even five minutes from beginning to end, without even a dead leaf falling down.

Others were as light as a swallow3, but he was as light as a goat.

When he climbed up the cliff, Fei Chang was the first to greet him. He called “senior brother” “senior brother” incessantly. Seeing that his hands had been scratched by the rope, he immediately wiped them clean with a wet wipe.

Chen Yue Yang saw the tear stains that had yet to dry in his face, and how he was embarrassingly in front of the camera, and smiled at his cute character.

Didn’t know what the company was thinking, in the internal document Chen Yue Yang obtained, it said Fei Chang’s official setting was a “cold, tough guy.”

Chen Yue Yang had never seen this kind of cold, tough guy.

In the end, where was it tough?

(google tled this as ‘where is it hard?’ lmao, CYY you sure you wanna know where FC is hard? 🙈 🙈 )

Aishh I’m running out of my stocked chapters >.< Even though I love the story, I’m always very lazy to start translating bc it is so much more difficult and exhausting compared to random passerby… even Lime finds it hard when I ask her for help >.< I remember it was such a pain looking for the song they mention in this chap and trying to understand the lyrics…

I hope everyone is doing okay, have a nice weekend! ^^

Footnotes:

1:加油 (jiāyóu) – lit. to add oil, expression used to cheer sb on. It’s a quite commonly used expression, so I might leave it in pinyin (jiayou) if it appears later on.:leftwards_arrow_with_hook:

2: 纤夫的爱 Qian Fu de Ai – Apparently it’s a song that became very popular in mainland China in the 90s and it’s still very well-known. It’s about a fisherman and a girl who are in love and talks about how they pull the rope so the boat can come to shore so they can be together (or something like that) – just like how they are pulling/holding the rope CYY needs to climb.

You can listen to it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywg0kwld0wY   :leftwards_arrow_with_hook:

3:身轻如燕 (shēnqīngrúyàn) lit. as light as a swallow (idiom), said of athletes or beautiful girls..:leftwards_arrow_with_hook:
