Thinking of deer Fei Fei

Chapter 5

The two long-legged men had walked for forty minutes after passing the tree when the view suddenly opened up before them.

There was a cliff at the end of the road. Chen Yue Yang walked to the edge of the cliff to take a look. He was pleasantly surprised to discover that the case with the golden toad laid on the open space under the cliff.

This road had been chosen by Fei Chang. He didn’t expect that he wasn’t an African deer but a European deer instead¹.

The distance from the cliff to the ground was not so high, about two floors. But there was a very steep section, which couldn’t be climbed down with bare hands. Before they set out from the camp, the crew had prepared a set of equipment for survival in the wilderness for each the red and the blue teams. For instance, Fei Chang carried a tent, and Chen Yue Yang carried all kinds of canned food.

The teams had also been provided with ropes and climbing pickaxes, but they were carried by the short-legged group. Chen Yue Yang contacted them through the walkie-talkie. Luckily, they were less than two kilometers away in a straight line. When they heard they had found the golden toad, they immediately said they’d arrive as soon as possible. It’s just that, the path of the forest was full of twists and turns, so it would still take them an hour to arrive.

They could only wait during the remaining time. Fei Chang hadn’t slept for two days, now that they were resting, he nodded sleepily. The junior and senior brothers were sitting shoulder to shoulder by the cliff. After a while, Chen Yue Yang felt heavy on his shoulder, Fei Chang’s big head was directly lying on him. Fei Chang was taller than Chen Yue Yang, and even when sitting he still was taller. When he laid his head down, his entire upper body was tilted. His posture seemed very uncomfortable, he even frowned in his sleep, making his expression very distorted. The cameraman felt that this scene was full of brotherly love, so he carried the camera on his shoulder and took several shots from different angles.

As an actor, senior, and idol whose fans covered the whole Asia within 5 years, Chen Yue Yang felt that he had an obligation to let this junior brother look better in front of the camera. Therefore, he took out a piece of dried jerky from the supplies bag and stuffed it into Fei Chang’s mouth. The giraffe finally recovered his calm appearance when the jerky entered his dreams.

The sleeping Fei Chang took a nap for more than two hours. When he opened his eyes, the sun hung on the west, but the short-legged team had not yet arrived.

Fei Chang yawned: “…What about them?”

“I don’t know.” Chen Yue Yang was a little worried, “the last contact was an hour ago. I contacted the crew and they said they’d encountered some trouble, which caused a delay.”

Half an hour later they finally knew what kind of trouble the short-legged group had encountered. At the crossroads where they had thrown the stone to ask the deer, they had picked the left path, and ended up falling in a swamp. The three people were soaked in mud below their belly. They really cut a sorry figure.

Chen Yue Yang looked at Fei Chang: “…Did you not leave them a mark?”

Unfortunately, they had to throw away the heavy equipment to come out of the swamp, including the climbing pickaxe and the rope. Five people looked down helplessly at the golden toad under the cliff. They didn’t have a rope, and it’s not like they could tear their clothes to make one, right?

Fei Chang paid attention to the surroundings and noticed that there were many climbing vines on the big trees nearby, which looked thick and durable. He immediately proposed to pick up the vines and weave them into a rope, which would allow going down the cliff. This method seemed highly feasible. In this kind of environment, he was able to come up with a solution so quickly. Once the show was broadcasted, it can be assumed that he will definitely attract a wave of fans.

Chen Yue Yang asked: “Has anyone ever said that you are very smart?”

“No.” Fei Chang told the truth, “they only said that I was very tall.”

The rope was woven quickly, but the length was not enough. With one end being pulled by everyone, and the other end hanging down the precipice, the distance to the ground was still 3 meters high. It went without saying who would go down.

Fei Chang didn’t expect to be assigned with such an important mission on the first time he appeared in the program. He was very excited, but after the excitement passed, he was a bundle of nerves.

“Don’t be afraid.”

The reason was quite good: although Fei Chang was tall, he weighted more than 80 kgs, while Chen Yue Yang was much lighter. The height difference of a bit more than ten centimeters could be made up for by powerfully jumping.

Fei Chang didn’t dare pretend to be timid anymore, immediately saying ‘I’ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go, ok?’ However, his most adored idol patted his hair and the fan immediately became distressed.  Chen Yue Yang didn’t agree, and just then he switched the end of the rope handing it to Fei Chang, telling him to pull well.

Very few people knew that Chen Yue Yang had a rare hobby, rock climbing. At the beginning, Chen Yue Yang had only learned just to comply with the high-class persona the company had designed for him. Who would have thought that he was talented in this area and gradually fell in love with this sport? There was a time when his climbing instructor sent him a set of emoticons. In the pictures, there were several goats in all kinds of weird postures in an almost vertical steep cliff.

Today, when Chen Yue Yang saw the golden toad at the bottom of the cliff, he immediately understood that this test was specially tailored for him.
