—System: “During this period, apart from the main mission of collecting the heroine’s happiness points, the system will also randomly issue side quests. Some of the side quests are related to the main storyline, while others are unrelated. If the side quest is successfully completed, you will receive a corresponding surprise reward; if the quest fails, the rescue progress will reset to zero, and the rescue system will restart. ”

—Huo Xiang: So strict? As long as the side quest fails, all the great efforts of the main mission will be wasted?!

—System: “Therefore, the system reminds you that you must treat every side quest seriously, and that the rewards for the side quests are a very pleasant surprise oh! ”

—Huo Xiang: “Your existence is the biggest ‘pleasant surprise’.”

—System: Lastly, the system reminds you that after you complete the main mission, not only can you return to the real world, but you will also get a mysterious prize as a reward for your glorious achievements.

—Huo Xiang: “I wish I had said this earlier! I’m originally a man brimming with a sense of justice, it is my duty to save the heroine!”

—System: “Then let us shout our motto and immediately start this experience happily!”

—Huo Xiang: “Mo… motto?!”

—System: “Run like the wind, knight! Run like the wind, 9938!2

—Huo Xiang: “……”

And like this, Huo Xiang began his ‘rescue journey’.

The first side quest was to find the heroine. Only by finding the heroine could his “strange disease” be cured.

For 10 days in a row, Huo Xiang strolled around the great streets and the small alleys, everywhere in the city, and he glanced at no less than one thousand beautiful girls, but accomplished nothing.

He absolutely didn’t expect that he needn’t search high and low, but would suddenly bump into the person when turning a corner in the hospital.

Then, the second side quest was issued —to marry the heroine.

Huo Xiang: Nani!1

The system told him that after analyzing a huge set of data, this was the optimal plan to reap the heroine’s happiness points— just by marrying the heroine, he could protect her at all times, preventing those people with ruthless schemes from harming her, and furthermore making her feel happy with everyday interactions.

Huo Xiang thought that this mission would be awfully difficult to complete, but what he would have never imagined happened — this book’s heroine unexpectedly didn’t like the male lead! Not even her first love!

The author of this book was simply God-sent ah!

As a result, he gradually advanced step by step, and spent three days to become the “fake boyfriend” of the heroine. According to his plan, in another three days, he would become the heroine’s “real husband”.

Of course, in order to accomplish the mission on time, none of these men with a warning sign could be taken lightly. So, just a moment ago, when he saw Bai Zhen Zhen stare at the third male lead so excitedly for such a long time, he immediately became alert.

“What are you staring at so foolishly, ne?” Bai Zhen Zhen saw Huo Xiang not speaking for a long time, and cast a suspicious glance at him, “I’m talking to you ne!”

Huo Xiang pretended to be calm: “En? Did you say something? Just now it was very noisy, I couldn’t hear it.”

“I asked you whether you had confirmed with your friends. The lottery will take place soon, if we don’t draw it, it will all have been for naught!”

“Don’t worry!” Huo Xiang nodded firmly at Bai Zhen Zhen.

—If the male lead draws the lottery, how can the heroine not win? If it doesn’t follow this pattern, he advises the author to give up the novelist career.

      1. 38 is fool or idiot and predates the internet.

99 appears to be either 救救 (help/rescue) or it could be 久久 (long lasting, as in forever love, for example). I’ve seen 995 as help me or SOS, but in this context is would be help me idiot, which I don’t think makes sense. I couldn’t find 9938 on baidu, but why would the system insert random numbers in a cheer? It’s probably sarcastic, so I’m guessing it’s saying he’s forever an idiot.

Unfortunately, I’m too lazy to go look at past chapters to see if 9938 is his actual system ID, which would also make sense.

        1. Sorry for the late reply! Thank you very much for your explanation, I have added it to the prev chapter where 9938 is mentioned for the first time. It indeed looks like author meant ‘forever fool’ to mock HX, when I saw the number when TLing I was sure it had some hidden funny meaning but unfortunately wasn’t able to find anything online, so again, thanks a lot!!!
