The Random Passerby I Married Is The Richest Man!

Chapter 17 Part 3: On the eve of becoming rich

Seeing that Bai Zhen Zhen’s eyes almost fell out, Huo Xiang quickly explained: “Fake! The type where you sign a contract, with mutual noninterference! Aren’t you afraid that they’ll continue to come to your door? If you marry someone, can’t you let them immediately admit defeat?!”

It’s not that Bai Zhen Zhen hadn’t thought of this idea. In the beginning, she made up a “friend”’s story and asked Huo Xiang, and Huo Xiang had also suggested this. However, marriage was a big deal after all, and a contract marriage required even more caution. First of all, she needed to ensure that the person she married by contract was completely trustworthy.

“What, you still don’t believe me?!” Huo Xiang seemed to see through Bai Zhen Zhen’s thoughts, “I don’t have any improper thought about you. When it comes to feelings, I treat you like a sister. And it’s only signing a contract and pressing your fingerprint, are you still afraid I’ll overstep the limit?”
“But if you and I have this contract marriage, what do you want?” Bai Zhen Zhen squinted at Huo Xiang.

Huo Xiang said firmly: In any case, we are good friends, didn’t I say just now that I treat you as a sister, I want to help you ah!”
Bai Zhen Zhen: “Speak honestly.”
Huo Xiang pursed his lips: “Honestly… if you wish to thank me and are willing to give me some money, I can accept it. After all, I just got out of the hospital and haven’t found a job yet…”
“How much do you want?” Bai Zhen Zhen asked.
“Ten thousand…” Huo Xiang paused, “or maybe five thousand!
Bai Zhen Zhen: “I’ll think about it.”
Huo Xiang smiled like a fool: “Good!”

** **

After lunch, Bai Zhen Zhen and Huo Xiang strolled around the streets. They arrived at Diamond Hotel at 4 pm.

It had already been a while since the party started. Bai Zhen Zhen showed the invitation Jiang Muyang had sent her as a text message to the security guards at the door, and the security guards immediately let them in deferentially.
As soon as she entered through the door, Bai Zhen Zhen’s eyes immediately squinted*. It really was worthy of Jiang Muyang’s choice. Magnificent, luxurious, and graceful! There were beautiful flowers, champagne and gourmet delicacies, a swimming pool, everything that should be there was there. At the side, a five-man band was playing a melodious song.
“Distinguished guests, please write your names in the guests’ book.” The waiter politely handed the signature book and a pen to Bai Zhen Zhen and Huo Xiang.
It was just like celebrities walking the red carpet and leaving their signatures behind.

Not far away, several young ladies gathered and discussed spiritedly.

“Who’s that man that’s signing ah? Why have I never seen him?”

“Oh, he seems to have a classy temperament eh, is he the young master of a noble family?”

“Come on, how can there be a young master of an influential family that sister Li doesn’t know ah?!”

“I also don’t think he’s from an influential family! I know the shirt he’s wearing, it’s Niubility’s new model, but it’s not expensive, just 3,000 yuan.”

(T/N: do these aristocratic young ladies have nothing better to do than to learn the prices and models of clothing brands? Especially male ones? 0.o)

“Maybe their family is low-key? Look at his gestures and manners, he has this kind of charming self-confidence…”

When these young ladies were gossiping about others, they didn’t pay attention to keep their voices low. Actually, Huo Xiang and Bai Zhen Zhen, who were not that far, had totally heard them.

Bai Zhen Zhen looked at Huo Xiang with suspicion: “Looking at you putting on airs like this, don’t tell me you really are a young master?”

Huo Xiang answered earnestly: “I am actually the son of the richest man in the world.”

—System: “Eing? How did you know?”

—Huo Xiang: “?”

—System: “After completing this side quest, you will activate a new identity – the long-lost 22-year-old sole heir of the richest man in the world.”

—–Huo Xiang: “???!!!”

Bai Zhen Zhen looked at Huo Xiang and, at that moment, she didn’t know if his expression was like wanting to cry or wanting to laugh, in a word, somewhat daunting.

”What happened to you?”

Huo Xiang suddenly grasped Bai Zhen Zhen’s hands tightly, with tearful eyes and trembling lips, yet didn’t speak.

Bai Zhen Zhen was frightened by Huo Xiang’s appearance. She quickly pulled him to a corner and asked him anxiously while lowering her voice: “What’s the matter? Did something happen?”

“Zhen Zhen…”Huo Xiang choked with emotion.

“En, I’m here.”

“if I had known… I would have rented a 400-yuan shirt!!”

Bai Zhen Zhen: “…”

is it much of a bother if from time to time I drop some comment in the middle of the chapter like I did for this one?

Soo, I went to donate blood and it was kinda a bit of an adventure, but well, as my friend says, I can turn anything that happens in my life into an adventure xD First of all, the doctor asked me the typical questions and was like ‘since it’s not your first time donating you already know how all this goes’ and I was nodding very convincingly but inside was like ‘yep, and all those times they just measured oxygen pressure or hemoglobin or whatever with a gadget that illuminated my finger, so why are you staring at my finger while holding that needle!‘.
After that was the ever-so-classic ‘oh your veins are too thin, let’s look at the other arm‘ from the nurse (very nice nurse, gotta say). Then I asked if blood was coming out fast enough, bc last time I was rejected already in the middle of the donation bc of too slow bloodflow (donation needs to be completed before 15min to avoid coagulation), and nurse was like ‘we’re not gonna get there even if we wait till tomorrow‘, and zas she took the blood bag back and threw it to the bin together with my kind intentions. So, today I asked the nurse and she said sth like ‘if the bloodflow is too slow then we need to stop the donation, if too slow then the red light will blink’, and, guess what was happening at that same moment? Yup you got it right, the red light was blinking! QAQ so I asked for one of those foam balls that you can clutch and release which improves the flow (~30ml/min) , and yes it improved but so slowly that the light kept blinking. So under the nurse’s suggestion, I started drinking water, and sure enough, flow rate went finally up to 42ml/min and light stopped blinking, and sure enough, when I finished the water in the bottle the flow rate started decreasing again >.< so nurse went to look for sth else for me to drink.
Meanwhile, I continued exerting great effort in the clutching exercise to try to keep the flowrate from decreasing, and at that moment it almost felt as if I was trying to climb Everest with just that hand >.< The nurse came with another drink and like this I was able to increase flow rate again (actually it’s really interesting this direct relationship between drinking and flow rate). It was already half the time limit but I hadn’t reached yet half the needed amount, was not very far though, and doctor was like ‘keep going, it’s still not fast enough but maybe you can do it!‘. And he also said next time maybe it would be better to use the other arm, so I told him the nurse said the veins were too thin, but he still wanted to take a look and as expected he then went ‘ooh, true, really thin‘…>.<  I continued clutching the ball with a greater than great effort, almost couldn’t feel my fingers as such anymore, and they also played a bit with the position of the needle to see if there was another position allowing faster flow.
After some time, accompanied with more ups and downs in the flow rate, I finally passed the 400ml mark (meaning even if I stopped there that bag could be used for transfusion, if there’s less amount they can’t use it), and I swear you should have seen the nurse, she looked like about to open a bottle of champagne to celebrate xD And then somehow, after that my flow rate sped up a lot and reached 52ml/min and the last 50ml were filled in the blink of an eye, as if I hadn’t been struggling for so long to fill all the previous mLs… and the doctor and the nurse were like ‘oh wow‘, really entertained by my changing flow rates, as if they were watching a racehorse and my blood flow was the slowest horse but suddenly sped up at the final meters and won the price xD And then (after drinking lots of water again) I got an ice cream for free :9
So everyone, if you are healthy enough and can go to the hospital in a safe way, please consider donating blood^^ Blood transfusions are needed for many medical interventions to treat a wide range of diseases and injuries, and with the pandemic the number of blood donations have decreased a lot, so again, if you are eligible and in good health please consider donating blood^^ Rest assured, your experience surely won’t be as picturesque as mine, much more calm and uneventful xD And if solidarity is not enough for you (well, I think in some places you can get money?) think it like this, you’re gonna get free food!
And if somehow someone was convinced to do it, please take note of a couple points:
1- On the day you’re going there, drink lots of water before (at least 1L!) so your blood has more liquid content and flows better (looks like banana milkshake didn’t made it go faster lol)
2- If you’re not going back home right after, make sure you know where all the public toilets nearby are (believe me, you’re gonna need them!😂)

  2. In chapter comments are cool, I feel I get some sense of solidarity while reading them especially when it was something I was also thinking about.
I love how you make adventurous stories from your activities. They are such a delight. Last year was finally the first time I was able to donate blood and I felt really really proud. I got turned away multiple times majorly due to anemia.

    1. yeah i feel you, i’ve also been turned down sometime due to low iron T^T i tried to eat foods rich in iron on the days prior to the donation, and it made me so happy to see my hemoglobin and rbc values over the threshold! now the hard work is too keep them like that… you too, eat well and stay healthy💪

  3. We have the same problem TT

I always donate every 6 months because my town always holds blood drives pretty much every 2 months or so and no matter what I do, I always have a hard time getting it pumping. One trick one of the nurses does with me is giving me cranberry juice to drink, and it always works lol.

    1. Oh ill have to try that next time! Now that you mention it, it rings a bell a nurse telling me to drink coke before the donation, i had totally forgotten 🤔

  4. I loved your note and how descriptive it was- especially because I just had blood drawn (not a donation just normal testing) and also have tiny veins. Luckily this nurse was amazing- I once failed at donating blood because it was so slow the nurse gave up saying it had coagulated. I almost cried.

    1. Yeah, or when they cant find yout vein well and start piercing here and there with the needle… i have been sometimes rejected due to low iron, so when i can donate bc iron is ok and then have to give up for some other reason it is so disappointing… so this time I fought with everything I had and finally won 😂

  5. I have to comment cause I have this extremely Vivid fear of needles all I need to do is see one and it gets my blood pumping aka I can’t donate…. Also love your comments and thanks for the chapter

    1. hehe you’re welcome and glad you enjoy them^^ when i was young (and now still sometimes) to me happens completely the opposite from you, im not afraid of the needle but of not seeing what they are doing with it, so i always have to look in blood analysis or donations bc i feel more anxious if i dont look. weird, right?

  6. I could understand if these rich young ladies are familiar with high end male brands due to their family/friends/acquaintances from their social circle. But how could they actually recognise the cheaper stuff from afar?? 😂😂
